One day my mother told me, “You’re going to England”

One day my mother told me, “You’re going to England”. And that's all I know. The journey was organised by the Yavneh. We were the only ones as all the others were Yavneh students. My mother had said: ”Take my children with you.” At first they didn’t want to take us, but I don’t know what my mother said. My mother paid the fare, I can still remember that. I think my mother had quite a bit of trouble, but they decided to take us with them after all.

My father had his brother here in London, and lots of cousins. We arrived at Liverpool Street (Station) and my relatives were waiting for us there, my father’s cousin and his sister-in-law. My father’s brother had got married in London.
