As I said, after a short while I could at long last read on my own and didn‘t need to be read to. And because of this I was always very, very grateful to my teacher Grünebaum. I have only good memories of Lützowstraße ‘Volksschule’. That was really special. The Yavneh didn’t suit me at all. And I didn’t suit it either.

This school primer was compiled by Cilly Marx, teacher at the Jewish Volksschule in Cologne. It was meant to be used in Jewish schools and was published in Leipzig in 1936.
